Our Story
I was in my late 40s, with a couple of failed relationships behind me, when I met my future wife Hema at a conference in Lumbini, Nepal, where the Buddha was born.
On the surface, we had nothing in common. She was a journalist who had covered a war, natural disasters, and elections in the world’s largest democracy. I was an itinerant artist.
She was Indian; I was American. Our language and religions were different. She was a city girl, and I was a child of the forest. But I was confident it would work because we were a Maximum Attraction match.
A year and a half later we were married.
Hema moved across continents and two oceans for a man whose culture, race, and language she did not share, and to a country where she had no history, no friends, and no relatives.
Now, nearly three decades later, we have two beautiful boys, a home, a family, and a shared history.
